it was more than fifty years ago
she came across the sea to new york city
met an irish fiddle player and she stole his heart away
times were often tough
sometimes all they had was love and a pot of tea
but together they were strong
read the bible, sang a song of better days
music and laughter, the foundation
upon which they built their life of love
he would sing the melody
she would sing the harmony and sway
as the years went on and on
they came to know and love the city as their home
and though she never understood the game
she cried when the dodgers moved away
